  • Domestic Cents has some great thoughts on a rush-rush-rush mentality and the negative consequences that can come from this sort of thinking (and doing).
  • Ramblings of a Crazy Woman – check out her entire site.  She has loads and loads of great craft ideas for kids.  Nate is still a little young for most of them, but she has so many great, creative ideas that I will definitely be doing with him when he’s older.
  • Get Rich Slowly talks about how to afford anything you want (but not everything).  As he says, “To be able to afford the important things, you must be willing to give up others.”
  • Just Five More Minutes gives a great review of a book called In Defense of Food.  Her review really piqued my interest, so I think I might check this book out, especially since I’ve been pondering my heavy reliance on pre-packaged convenience foods, especially for Nate.  I’m pretty sure the author of this book wouldn’t consider hot dogs “food”.
  • Almost Frugal describes how becoming frugal is like quitting smoking.  I really identify with the idea of needing to find new activities to replace old, unhealthy, unconscious activities you are trying to rid yourself of.
  • Millionaire Mommy Next Door has compiled the ultimate list of financial calculators.  She has listed 110 calculators so you can discover the answer to just about any financial question you might have.
  • Dumb Little Man gives some great tips on how to be a savvy shopper, especially when it comes to negotiating for better prices.  These are really good tips that I am definitely going to try to implement.

Thanks for mentioning my review of “In Defense of Food.” I’m glad it piqued your interest, as I’m longing to find someone with whom I can discuss some of the ideas that Pollan shares! Looking forward to hearing what you think of it.
